Cross-Processed Portrait

About this tutorial

This image goes back to the days of film, and does not use any Photoshop in the production. The colour shift is a result of cross-processing film, but the tutorial does include a section on using Photoshop to emulate cross-processing.

Topics covered in this tutorial:
  • Cross-processing C41 to E6 and E6 to C41.
  • Shooting portraits on large format view cameras.
  • Back lighting canvas backgrounds.
  • Using comparative ratios to determine background tones.
  • Using Photoshop to emulate cross-processing E6 to C41.
  • Using Photoshop to create the affect of creating a print with a filed out negative holder.
